Uche Anya Issues Final Warning to Criminals: Leave the State or Face Destruction.

The Enugu State government has taken firm action against criminal activity by demolishing a known kidnappers’ hideout in Nike, located in Enugu East Local Government Area. The property, consisting of twin semi-detached bungalows in Nokpa, was used to detain kidnapping victims while awaiting ransom payments.
According to a report from Vanguard, the demolition was carried out under Section 315 (Second Amendment) of the Enugu State Criminal Code Law. This action reflects the government’s strong commitment to fighting crime in the region. After the demolition, Hon. Uche Anya, Chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, emphasized the administration’s determination to eliminate violent crime, declaring, “This is an all-out war, and we will not stop until these criminals are eradicated.”
Anya recounted the key events leading up to the demolition, focusing on a major kidnapping incident on September 27th. He explained how a group of criminals abducted Chibuoke Charles and Mr. Emma Okeke near the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences and took them to the hideout. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of N40 million for one of the victims after already collecting money for the other.
The situation intensified as security forces gathered intelligence on the kidnappers’ movements. Anya credited the success of the operation to the advanced security systems implemented by Governor Peter Mbah, combined with the skills of a specialized police squad. “Thanks to the sophisticated security infrastructure Governor Mbah has provided for the state,” he said.
On September 29th, during a rescue mission, the kidnappers engaged the security forces in a gunfight but were eventually defeated. The operation resulted in the successful rescue of the hostages, and authorities recovered three automatic rifles, dangerous weapons, charms, and hard drugs. Anya commented, “Even their charms couldn’t protect them.”
