Rivers Crisis: Dan Ulasi to Fubara, “You’re Taking Charge of One of Nigeria’s Wealthiest States”
Chief Dan Ulasi, a former chairman of the PDP in Anambra State, recently recounted his first meeting with Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the office of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
The meeting was notable for its political significance, as Wike declared Fubara as his chosen successor, underscoring their close political connection. This encounter marked the beginning of Fubara’s leadership role in Rivers State, a region known for its wealth.
In an interview with AIT, Ulasi shared his thoughts during that meeting, advising Fubara on the responsibilities ahead.
He emphasized the substantial financial resources Fubara would manage, mentioning monthly revenues of 15 to 20 billion naira. Ulasi cautioned that power not only provides authority but also reveals a leader’s true character under pressure, aiming to prepare Fubara for the challenges of leadership.
Ulasi also compared the current political dynamics in Rivers State to past conflicts in Anambra, like the struggle between Chris Uba and former Governor Ngige, highlighting the ongoing pattern of power struggles in Nigerian politics. His reflections offered both a perspective on the complexities of leadership and lessons for navigating the challenges of governance.
