Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has responded to the appointment of Prof. Iliyasu Tochukwu Usman as the first-ever Igbo Imam of the Abuja National Mosque.
According to a report from the Nigerian Tribune, Prof. Iliyasu Tochukwu Usman has made history by becoming the first Igbo Muslim Imam at the Abuja National Mosque. He is set to deliver his inaugural khutbah (sermon) during the Jumm’at prayer on Friday.
In a message shared on his verified Twitter account, Peter Obi expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Iliyasu Usman on his appointment as Chief Imam of the National Mosque. He emphasized that this important role reflects Usman’s commitment, wisdom, and outstanding leadership.
Obi continued, wishing that Allah grants Usman the wisdom and strength needed to fulfill his special spiritual duties. He expressed hope that Usman’s exemplary service would promote peace by enhancing spirituality in Nigeria’s national life.The former Governor of Anambra State further stated his belief that Usman’s tenure would encourage peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria.
