“2027: Momodu Claims Wike Is Counting on Tinubu Not Seeking Re-election”
Dele Momodu, a former presidential candidate, has asserted that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and his allies are responsible for the ongoing internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). countinue
He claims that this group is banking on President Bola Tinubu stepping aside from the 2027 presidential race, hoping to use the PDP as their platform to run for the presidency since they have no real prospects within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Channels Television’s *Politics Today*, Momodu, a prominent member of the PDP, argued that even those in the APC are aware that Wike and his camp are engaging in political maneuvering.According to a report from the *Daily Post*, despite serving in Tinubu’s APC-led government as a minister, Wike has pledged to stay within the PDP.Momodu emphasized that Wike and his group have made no secret of their intentions.
They have openly stated that they supported Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election and intend to do so again in 2027, all while staying in the PDP to weaken the party from within. Everyone, including APC members, recognizes this strategy. He further explained that Wike’s group is betting on the possibility that Tinubu won’t seek re-election in 2027, allowing them to take control of the PDP.
They know they have no chance of gaining a foothold in the APC. “No one will let them ruin APC after they’ve already caused turmoil in their own party,” Momodu added, underscoring the widely acknowledged game Wike and his group are playing.
