Rivers LG Chairman Takes Down Wike’s Name from Council Building (Video)

Chijioke Ihunwo, the newly elected Chairman of Obio Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, has taken down the name of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, from the council’s administrative block.
Wike, who hails from the Rumuepirikom community within Obio Akpor LGA and previously served as the local council chairman, had his name prominently displayed on the administrative building of the council secretariat.
Ihunwo stated that Wike’s tenure had brought considerable challenges to the local government area, leading him to replace Wike’s name with that of the late Obi Wali, a former politician and activist in the state.
In a video posted on X, Ihunwo announced, “We have changed Wike’s name in the admin block of Obio/Akpor Council and replaced it with the name of SENATOR DR. OBI WALI.”
Ihunwo was among 22 newly elected LGA chairpersons who were recently sworn in by Governor Siminalayi Fubara following the Rivers local council elections.
