Sen. Akpabio: No One Can Dismiss APC in Akwa Ibom; I’ll Prove You Wrong with Projects and Appointments
As the upcoming elections in Akwa Ibom State approach, the campaigns of Governor Umo Eno from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Godswill Akpabio from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have taken center stage in political discussions. Both leaders are actively rallying their supporters to secure their positions in the electoral contest, presenting distinct narratives to engage voters.
During the PDP campaign flag-off at Uyo Township Stadium, Governor Eno addressed a large crowd of party members, underscoring the importance of highlighting the party’s achievements. He urged his candidates to promote the successes of the PDP as they connect with the electorate. Eno’s message exuded confidence, encouraging his supporters to campaign based on the trust they have established among the people of Akwa Ibom.
According to a report by Vanguard, the governor also emphasized the need for a peaceful and issue-oriented campaign. He called for an electoral process free from negativity and personal attacks, urging his supporters to focus on their future plans and engage in constructive dialogue with voters. His campaign ethos centered on positivity rather than divisiveness.
In contrast, Senator Akpabio took a more assertive approach during the APC campaign flag-off at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium. He rallied his supporters around themes of empowerment and development, expressing confidence in the APC’s capacity to integrate Akwa Ibom into national politics. Akpabio framed his message around progress and national relevance, pledging that his leadership would bring significant benefits to the state.
Dismissing claims that the APC lacks relevance in Akwa Ibom, Akpabio affirmed the party’s presence and influence. He aimed to dispel any doubts about the APC’s role in the state’s political landscape, positioning it as a formidable force that cannot be ignored.
As both political figures prepare for the elections, their contrasting strategies highlight the different approaches of the PDP and APC in appealing to the electorate. While Governor Eno focuses on leveraging past achievements and promoting a peaceful campaign, Senator Akpabio seeks to energize his base with bold promises and a vision for future development.
“I promised I would take you to the center. Are you not at the center now? This is just the beginning. We will complete it. There are people who say let us dismiss the APC, that the APC does not exist in Akwa Ibom. Nobody can dismiss the APC in Akwa Ibom. You haven’t seen anything yet. I will impress you with projects, appointments, and empowerment,” he stated emphatically.
