AFCON 2023: Super Eagles Dealt Major Blow Ahead of Clash with South Africa

The Super Eagles of Nigeria Could Be Missing Key Player Victor Osimhen for Match Against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in AFCON 2023

The Napoli forward player did not travel with the squad from Abidjan to Bouaké on Monday, February 5, 2024 via a 10pm Air Cote D’Ivoire flight. According to reports from the Super Eagles’ official X account, Osimhen has an abdominal pain but he would join the team later, if he is cleared fit by the team’s doctors.

Members of the team traveled from Abidjan to Bouaké today via a 10pm Air Cote D’Ivoire flight. Osimhen did not however make the trip as a result of an abdominal discomfort. Team medics confirmed that he has been placed under close watch with a member of the medical team staying behind in Abidjan with him. If cleared by tomorrow morning, he will join the rest of the squad before 5pm.”

Osimhen has been an instrumental part of the Super Eagles progress at the competition. He has scored just a goal so far at the competition ut he has been able to distract opposition defenders which has allowed the likes of Adenola Lookman get into pocket of spaces.

Nigerians will hope Osimhen passes the fitness test before the semi-final clash against South Africa.
