Akanbi Bamidele Brett, known professionally as Cheque (also called Superboy Cheque), is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper. He was born on March 23, 1995, in Ondo State, Nigeria.
Cheque is signed to Phynoβs record label Penthauze Music and is widely recognized for his melodic rap style and genre-bending sound, blending Afrobeats, trap, hip-hop, and R&B.
He rose to prominence in 2020 following the release of his hit single Zoom, which became a street anthem and dominated music charts across Nigeria and Africa. His debut EP, Razor, further solidified his reputation as a talented and versatile artist with strong lyrical ability and a distinct sound.
In September 2021, Cheque released his debut studio album, Bravo, featuring guest appearances from Olamide, Fireboy DML, Jackboy, and Ayra Starr. The album received critical acclaim for its sonic diversity and unique delivery.
Cheque has since continued to evolve musically, dropping singles and collaborations that expand his influence in the Nigerian and international music scene.
