Tottenham Knock Manchester United Out of Carabao Cup
Tottenham Hotspur triumphed in a dramatic Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester United, securing their spot in the semi-finals with a narrow 4-3 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Dominic Solanke opened the scoring in the 15th minute, pouncing on a rebound after United’s goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, failed to hold a powerful shot. Dejan Kulusevski doubled Spurs’ lead shortly after halftime with a clinical finish, and Solanke added his second in the 54th minute, giving Tottenham a commanding 3-0 advantage.
United staged a spirited comeback, with Joshua Zirkzee exploiting a mistake by Spurs’ goalkeeper Fraser Forster in the 63rd minute to score. Amad Diallo added another in the 70th minute after pressing Forster into another error, narrowing the gap to 3-2.
Despite the pressure, Spurs regained control in the 88th minute when Heung-Min Son’s audacious corner kick curled directly into the net, catching Bayindir off guard. United’s Jonny Evans struck in stoppage time, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Tottenham from sealing the dramatic victory.
The pulsating match showcased relentless action, with Tottenham’s composure under pressure ultimately proving decisive.
