Report: Manchester United Open to Offers for Entire Squad, Including Three Previously Considered Untouchable Stars
The club, currently struggling in 13th place in the Premier League and enduring a four-game winless streak under manager Ruben Amorim, is preparing to make sweeping changes to address underperformance and financial concerns.
Ratcliffe has criticized United’s recruitment strategy in recent years, describing it as wasteful.
With the club having spent £600 million under former manager Erik ten Hag, Amorim is working with a restricted transfer budget.
This limitation rules out a move for top target Viktor Gyokeres, whose release clause stands at £80 million.
The restructuring may include the sale of key young talents such as Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Hojlund.
Despite their previously untouchable status, the financial pressures of profit and sustainability rules have made these academy graduates potential assets to generate funds.
Mainoo, in particular, is unsettled over contract issues, with interest reportedly coming from rival clubs.
Even recent signings like Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui, and Manuel Ugarte could face departures just months after arriving.
However, selling high-profile players with significant wages, such as Marcus Rashford or Casemiro, remains a challenge due to a lack of suitors.
Manchester United has recorded heavy financial losses in recent years, with a net spend of over £1 billion since 2015.
Ratcliffe’s cost-cutting measures have also sparked controversy, including redundancies and changes to ambassadorial roles.
