North Korea Claims U17 Women’s World Cup Title by Defeating Spain in 2024 Dominican Republic Finals

The North Korean U17 women’s team has triumphed in the latest FIFA World Cup, defeating Spain in a penalty shootout at Estadio Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The match ended 1-1 after regulation time, but North Korea secured victory by scoring 4 out of 5 penalties, while Spain converted only 1 out of 3, resulting in a final score of 4-3 in favor of North Korea.
Both teams are among the most successful in this age category. North Korea has previously won the tournament in 2008 and 2018, finished as runners-up in 2012, placed fourth in 2010, and reached the quarterfinals in 2014. In contrast, Spain, having won the tournament in 2018 and 2022, aimed for a third consecutive title.
They also secured a silver medal in 2014 and bronze medals in 2010 and 2016, giving them a stronger overall record.It has been announced that the next tournament will be held in Morocco next year, featuring an expanded field of 24 teams instead of the current 16.
