Barcelona Ready to Sign Marcus Rashford This Summer—But Only If Ansu Fati Leaves
Barcelona are reportedly prepared to sign Marcus Rashford in the upcoming transfer window—but there’s a catch. The Catalan giants will only move for the Manchester United forward if they can offload Ansu Fati first.
Rashford had been linked with a switch to Camp Nou during the January window, but the transfer fell through, and he was loaned to Aston Villa instead for the rest of the season.
Villa are interested in making the move permanent following Rashford’s impressive performances, but according to reports, the England international “favors a transfer to Barcelona.”
Financial limitations at Barcelona mean the club is carefully tracking Rashford’s status and would only proceed with the deal if it is financially viable. Offloading Ansu Fati is a key part of that plan. The young forward has dealt with persistent injury issues and is now seen as a financial strain on the club.
Several La Liga teams, including Sevilla, have reportedly expressed interest in Fati, but no agreement has been reached. Barcelona remain hopeful that selling him will provide both the necessary funds and squad space to bring Rashford in.
Rashford appears to be out of favor at Manchester United under new manager Ruben Amorim and is “unlikely to feature for the club again.” His loan spell at Aston Villa has seen him rediscover his form, registering four goals and six assists—making a summer departure from Old Trafford almost certain.
