Manchester City midfielder Rodri has won the 2024 Ballon d’Or, beating Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, and Dani Carvajal to the prestigious award.

Rodri’s exceptional year included winning both the Premier League title with City and the European Championship with Spain.

His victory came as a surprise, as Vinicius Junior was widely seen as the frontrunner for the award. However, a last-minute decision left the Brazilian star empty-handed. In response, Real Madrid boycotted the ceremony, despite being named Club of the Year and their coach Carlo Ancelotti winning Coach of the Year.
