Wike Risks Expulsion Over Apc Ties – Pdp Chieftain Warns

Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, the South West Zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has issued a stern warning to Nyesom Wike, cautioning that his growing association with the All Progressives Congress (APC) could lead to his removal from the PDP. The comments were made in a report published by Daily Independent on May 19, 2025.

Owokoniran accused Wike of sowing discord within the party and undermining its cohesion. Drawing parallels with the APC’s treatment of former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Owokoniran noted that even minor signs of disloyalty led to Aregbesola being pushed aside.

“The APC quickly removed Aregbesola when they saw he was no longer loyal. Aregbesola’s actions were far less damaging than what Wike is accused of doing in the PDP,” he stated.

He also criticized Wike for allegedly attempting to dominate the party, insisting that no single individual controls the PDP.

“In PDP, we don’t have a boss. That was what Wike was trying to establish. And you can see that he is disappointed. And he is eventually probably going to be thrown out,” Owokoniran added.

He emphasized that supporting the APC in the 2027 elections while claiming loyalty to the PDP would be unacceptable.

“I don’t see how anybody goes out and supports APC in 2027 and still remains worthy within PDP. They better end up there,” he warned.

Owokoniran concluded by urging the PDP to act decisively to protect its unity and integrity, asserting that Wike’s political maneuvering is beginning to backfire.
