Why Adeleke, Davido, and Dr. Deji Adeleke Visited President Tinubu in Lagos

On Tuesday evening, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomed a high-profile delegation from the Adeleke family at his private residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. The group included Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke, his elder brother and prominent businessman Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, and award-winning music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
Governor Adeleke disclosed the visit in a late-night post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, explaining that the courtesy call was made in the spirit of the upcoming Eid el-Kabir celebration. “This evening, alongside the scion of the Adeleke dynasty, my elder brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke, and my nephew, whom we are immensely proud of, David Adeleke, popularly known as @davido, we paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Lagos residence ahead of the Sallah celebration,” he wrote.
Though no specific agenda was revealed, the visit comes shortly after Davido’s earlier appearance at the Presidential Villa in Abuja—raising speculation about deepening ties between the Adeleke family and the presidency.
Photos from the private meeting portrayed a warm and informal atmosphere, suggesting the gathering was more personal than political. However, the timing and public nature of the visit have sparked discussions online, especially given the family’s influential roles in both politics and entertainment.
Davido, known for maintaining cordial relationships with public figures regardless of political leanings, has often emphasized peace and national unity. His father, Dr. Deji Adeleke, remains a respected figure in Nigeria’s business community, while Governor Ademola Adeleke currently serves as a prominent PDP leader in Osun State.
As Nigeria edges closer to the 2027 general elections, political analysts and citizens alike are closely watching such interactions, interpreting them as potential signals of shifting alliances or behind-the-scenes consultations.
As of press time, the Presidency has not issued an official statement regarding the visit.
