Tinubu Reaffirms Friendship With Soludo, Praises His Economic Vision

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his close relationship with Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, referring to him as a long-time friend and respected partner in Nigeria’s economic journey.
During a weekend courtesy visit to a traditional ruler in Anambra State, as shared by Channels TV, President Tinubu reminisced about an earlier conversation he had with the monarch, in which he had spoken highly of Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
“I recall telling you then that Charles Soludo, your son, is my friend and still my friend,” Tinubu said with a warm smile, prompting applause from the audience.
He went on to highlight Soludo’s achievements, both during his time at the helm of the CBN (2004–2009) and in his current position as governor. Tinubu praised the bank consolidation policy initiated under Soludo’s leadership, calling it one of the most significant reforms in the nation’s financial sector.
“Soludo is a man of ideas and action. I have always admired his intellect, and we have shared many conversations about how to move Nigeria forward,” Tinubu added.
The President’s comments come at a time when there is growing emphasis on collaboration between the federal government and state administrations to drive economic growth and national development. His recognition of Soludo, who belongs to the opposition All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was seen by many as a call for unity and cooperation beyond political lines.
Governor Soludo, known for advocating pragmatic and localized economic policies, has remained a vocal supporter of innovative solutions to Nigeria’s economic challenges.
The visit ended on a note of mutual respect and commitment to national progress, with both leaders pledging continued cooperation for the good of the country.
