Thank You, My Aburo” – Emeka Anyaoku Welcomes Tinubu During Anambra Visit

President Bola Tinubu received a warm reception during his visit to Anambra State on Thursday, May 8, 2025, following an invitation from Chief Emeka Anyaoku, the former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. The visit centered around a special event held at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka.

Chief Anyaoku, expressing deep appreciation for the President’s presence, greeted him warmly with the words, “Thank you, my Aburo”—a Yoruba term affectionately used for a younger sibling or relative.

As part of the day’s honors, President Tinubu was conferred with a prestigious traditional title: “Dike Si-mba of Anambra,” which translates to “mighty warrior from a distant land,” recognizing his leadership and visit to the region.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo expressed gratitude to the President for making the trip, pointing out that the last presidential visit to the state occurred in 2012. Tinubu’s presence, he said, was a boost to Anambra’s profile and a recognition of the developmental strides in the state.

During his time in Anambra, the President commissioned several key projects championed by Governor Soludo, including the Emeka Anyaoku Institute of International Studies and Diplomacy, the newly completed Government House, and the Solution Funcity recreational center.

However, the visit was not without some political restraint. A directive from the Presidency instructed members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and supporters of Governor Soludo to refrain from wearing party uniforms during the event. This move was intended to maintain a non-partisan atmosphere and emphasize unity over politics.

President Tinubu’s visit was widely seen as a step toward fostering national cohesion and strengthening ties between the federal government and the southeastern region.
