Sowore Rejects Coalition with Political Elites: “Peter Obi Is Not My Ideal Philosopher”
Omoyele Sowore has pushed back against calls for broad political alliances, particularly those involving figures like Peter Obi, insisting that real change in Nigeria cannot come from recycled political elites.
In a video shared by News Central TV, Sowore responded to Obi’s recent remark that “no one group can change Nigeria alone,” which was seen as a call for unity among opposition forces. However, Sowore dismissed the idea and questioned the credibility of such suggestions.
“Peter Obi would not be my ideal philosopher, so I don’t know why you’re quoting what he said to me,” he said firmly during an interview.
Sowore went on to criticize the idea of aligning with established politicians like Obi and Atiku Abubakar, arguing that these individuals have already had their chances in power and failed to bring meaningful progress.
“These are not bridge builders, they are destiny destroyers,” he stated, emphasizing that the country doesn’t need coalitions built on old political structures, but rather a revolutionary movement led by ordinary Nigerians.
For Sowore, genuine transformation must come from the oppressed masses, not the same class of leaders who, in his view, have contributed to Nigeria’s stagnation.
His message was clear: change cannot be achieved by aligning with those who represent the status quo, no matter how well-intentioned they may seem.
