Senator Natasha Calls on Senate to Halt Demolition of Ogbebor Estate

Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan of Kogi Central has called on the Senate to intervene and stop the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, from proceeding with the planned demolition of Ogbebor Estate.
The estate, reportedly owned by retired Colonel Paul Osa Ogbebor, Nigeria’s first commissioned military officer, has been marked for demolition by the FCT administration.
Speaking during a Senate plenary, Senator Natasha urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to halt the demolition, emphasizing that the property does not fall under the stated reasons for the FCT’s mass demolition campaign.
She highlighted the potential humanitarian impact, stating that the demolition would displace families and children residing in the estate.
“We urge the FCT administration to suspend the demolition of the said property until the Senate thoroughly investigates the matter,” she appealed.
The senator further stressed the importance of resolving the issue through proper review and dialogue to prevent undue hardship to the affected residents.
