Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Dismisses Viral Livestream As False And Manipulated

Abuja, May 2, 2025 — Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has strongly denied the allegations made in a viral Facebook livestream aired on May 1, 2025, by Sandra C. Duru. She described the video as a “digitally doctored” attempt to tarnish her image and push a false narrative allegedly benefiting Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In her response, Akpoti-Uduaghan insisted that the voice featured in the livestream was fabricated and had no connection to her. “The content, including the so-called voice effect, is false and clearly doctored to push a narrative scripted by Akpabio,” she stated.

The senator further revealed that she had uncovered evidence linking Sandra C. Duru to a previous social media persona known as “Prof. Mgbeke,” saying, “I have recently discovered that the person now parading as Sandra C. Duru is the same individual who once operated as ‘Prof. Mgbeke’ on Facebook.”

Vowing to address the accusations thoroughly, Akpoti-Uduaghan promised a detailed response soon. She added that no amount of “media theatrics or digital falsehood” would derail her commitment to pursuing justice and transparency.

The incident has sparked debate online, with many Nigerians applauding the senator for confronting misinformation head-on, while others question the motivations behind the livestream. The controversy highlights the increasing challenge of digital misinformation in Nigeria’s political landscape, especially as rivalries intensify within the government.
