Senator Bala Na’allah Challenges Governor Uba Sani Over Claims About Northern Leadership
Senator Bala Na’allah has responded to recent remarks by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, who suggested that northern leaders over the last two decades have failed the region. In an interview with Trust TV, Na’allah said he found it unfair to broadly label all northern leaders as dishonest or ineffective.
“As a Muslim, I know that such a statement is un-Islamic,” Na’allah said, adding that after reflecting deeply on his years of public service, he found no instance where he acted against the North’s interests. Having served two terms in the House of Representatives and two terms in the Senate, Na’allah said he remained proud of his record.
“I am over 60 years old. I have children and grandchildren. Tomorrow I could die, and I want them to know that their grandfather pleaded not guilty to such accusations,” he stated.
While clarifying that he could not speak for all northern leaders, Na’allah emphasized that he stood firmly behind his personal contributions to the region. He also pointed out that Governor Sani himself was part of the government during one of Na’allah’s terms as Senator. Challenging the governor directly, he said, “If he can remember any decision that can be attributed to me that is injurious to the North, let him say it.”
Na’allah concluded by reaffirming that he made significant sacrifices throughout his political career and remains confident that he served the North’s best interests.
