Police Direct Natasha to Cancel Homecoming Rally
The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, has instructed suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to cancel her planned Sallah rally in the Central Senatorial District.
According to Naija News, this directive was issued on Tuesday through a statement signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP William Aya.
Despite a government ban on political gatherings, Akpoti-Uduaghan has insisted on proceeding with her homecoming, stating that her visit is solely to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with her constituents.
However, Commissioner Dantawaye emphasized that the rally contradicts the state government’s recent proclamation, adding that intelligence reports indicate a potential security threat, with concerns that hoodlums could disrupt the event.
In the statement, the Police Command stressed that the decision to call off the event was necessary to maintain peace in the state, warning that any attempt to defy the order could lead to legal consequences.
The authorities reiterated their commitment to preserving security and cautioned against any action that could disturb public order.
