Obi’s Aide Responds After APC’s Balami Isaac Calls Peter Obi a “Bad Man”
Dr. Moses Paul, a media aide to former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, has strongly criticized comments made by APC chieftain Balami Isaac during the commendation service for the late Doyin Okupe in Abuja. During his speech, Isaac referred to Obi as a “bad man,” a remark that has since sparked backlash and controversy.
Reacting to the statement, Dr. Paul dismissed Isaac’s characterization as unfair and baseless, particularly given Obi’s personal commitment to attending the event. He revealed on his official X account that Obi had prioritized being at the service despite his busy schedule. “When I informed Mr. Peter Obi about the event in Abuja and offered to represent him, he declined, insisting on being there in person. Calling him a ‘bad man’ truly feels like a harsh and unfair judgment,” Paul stated.
Isaac’s comment came during an emotional service of songs honoring Doyin Okupe, a former senior special assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. His remark has fueled tensions, with many Obi supporters viewing it as an unwarranted attack.
Dr. Paul’s response highlights the ongoing political frictions surrounding Peter Obi, whose actions frequently draw strong reactions. Despite criticism, Obi’s allies continue to emphasize his integrity and commitment to important occasions, even at personal inconvenience.
As Nigeria’s political climate intensifies ahead of the 2027 elections, exchanges like this are expected to become more frequent. For Obi’s supporters, however, the key takeaway remains that respect and fairness should prevail, especially during solemn events meant to honor the departed.
