Labour Party Rejects Allegation of Collaboration with President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 Elections
The Labour Party has strongly rejected allegations of covert collaboration with President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support his re-election in the 2027 elections, The Punch reports.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, dismissed the claims as false and a fabrication by human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju. Adeyanju had accused the Labour Party leadership of secretly working with Tinubu’s allies to facilitate his return to power.
In response, Ifoh challenged Adeyanju to provide evidence to support his claims, reiterating that the Labour Party, led by National Chairman Julius Abure, remains a vocal and visible opposition force in Nigerian politics. He emphasized that the Labour Party had consistently denied any such collaboration with the ruling party.
Ifoh condemned Adeyanju’s accusations, stating that they were damaging to the party and its members. He called on the activist to retract his statements and issue an apology for the harm caused.
The Labour Party maintains that it has no plans to work with President Tinubu or the APC in the upcoming elections, and continues to stand firm as an opposition force.
