JUST IN: Tinubu Gives Nigerians a Choice – Pay N1,000/Litre for Petrol or Switch to CNG at N200/Metre
President Bola Tinubu has announced that Nigerian motorists now have a choice between purchasing petrol at N1,000 per litre or opting for compressed natural gas (CNG) at N200 per standard cubic meter (SCM).
This announcement was made during a meeting with executives from the Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO) at the State House in Abuja.
Tinubu emphasized that motorists could switch to CNG at no cost, thanks to incentives aimed at helping commercial drivers convert their vehicles from petrol to gas. He praised NIPCO for its efforts in supporting the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI) and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to creating a favorable environment for private-sector investments in CNG infrastructure.
NIPCO’s director, Ramesh Kasangra, expressed the company’s commitment to working with the government to expand access to CNG and contribute to Nigeria’s ongoing energy transition efforts.
