JUST IN: Opposition Party Secures Victory in Etche LGA Election in Rivers State
Uzodinma Nwafor, the candidate from the opposition Action Alliance (AA), has been officially declared the winner of the Etche Local Government Area (LGA) chairman election, which took place on October 5, 2024.
Adolphus Enebeli, the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), announced the results in Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Sunday. Enebeli confirmed that Nwafor received the highest number of votes, securing his victory.
In addition to the chairmanship, the Action Alliance also won all 19 councillorship positions in Etche LGA.
It is important to note that the state’s governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which boycotted the election due to court rulings against it.
