In the interview, he asserted that the Labour Party had won the presidential election on Saturday, but when asked if he was confident that the judiciary would make the right decision if the matter went to court, he said he wasn’t sure because his party might be treated the same way that Bashir Machina, who lost the race to represent the Yobe North Constituency under the APC and was replaced by Senate President Bukola Saraki, did.

Lawan ran for president at the same time that Machina was running for the Senate, and after losing, he returned to falsely assert that he was the party’s legitimate senatorial nominee.
