Goodluck Jonathan Denies Endorsing Tinubu for 2027 Re-election
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has dismissed reports claiming he endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office, labeling the claims as false and misleading.
The report, which circulated online under the headline “Tinubu will win 2027 presidential election: Goodluck Jonathan,” alleged that Jonathan had predicted Tinubu’s victory and declared that no political alliance could stop his re-election. It also claimed the statement was made during Jonathan’s acceptance of the 2025 Sunhak Peace Prize in Seoul, South Korea.
However, Jonathan’s media team has strongly refuted the report. His former Special Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, issued a rebuttal on Facebook, making it clear that the former president never made such comments.
“This is completely false, created by individuals bent on spreading false information in order to mislead the general public and include the former president in political debates he has had no involvement in,” Eze stated.
Jonathan’s media office also clarified that he did not speak to any journalists about the 2027 general elections during his trip to South Korea or anywhere else.
The statement urged the public to disregard the fake report and warned against spreading unverified political claims involving the former president, who has remained largely apolitical since leaving office.
