Fubara’s Local Government Chairman Erases Wike’s Name from Council Building.
Chijioke Ihunwo, the chairman of the Obio Akpor Local Government Area (LGA), has taken down the name of former Governor Nyesom Wike from the council secretariat’s administrative block. This move occurs amid an ongoing power struggle between Wike and the current Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is originally from Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor LGA. His name had been prominently displayed on the administrative building, but as of Sunday morning, it has been replaced by that of Obi Wali, a well-known politician and activist from Rivers State who died in 1993. Ihunwo posted videos on X showcasing the removal process.
It is worth noting that Fubara’s supporters had recently aligned themselves with the Action Peoples Party (APP) prior to the latest local government elections. Out of the 23 chairmanship positions available in the state, the APP secured 22 of them.
