Former Lagos Attorney General Says Tinubu Can Govern Nigeria from Any Location
Former Lagos State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Olasupo Sasore, has expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ability to govern Nigeria effectively, regardless of his location. Sasore highlighted that modern technology allows the President to fulfill his duties even while abroad.
He explained that the Nigerian Constitution, particularly the 1979 provisions, allows for this flexibility, emphasizing that the President is not required to relinquish his responsibilities during international trips.Sasore’s comments come in response to critics who have voiced concerns about the absence of both President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima during a time of economic difficulty in the country.
During a speech at the 50th Founder’s Day celebration of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) in Oyo, Sasore pointed out that advancements like video conferencing and electronic signatures make remote governance possible. He added that while the current situation is manageable with Tinubu abroad, it would be more concerning if both the President and Vice President were unavailable, hinting at the importance of leadership presence in times of crisis.
