Dr Omole Alleges Aides Overrode Aisha Buhari’s Arrangements During Buhari’s Final UK Treatment

Dr Charles Omole, author of From Soldier to Statesman, has provided fresh details on events surrounding the late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s final medical trip to the United Kingdom, alleging that close aides overrode arrangements made by his wife, Aisha Buhari.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Omole said the episode highlighted internal dynamics and control within Buhari’s inner circle during his later years.

According to him, Aisha Buhari had made prior arrangements for her husband’s accommodation in the UK, securing a residence to ensure comfort and privacy during the medical stay before leaving Nigeria.

Omole stated:
“When he was going to England for his last treatment, the wife got a place prepared and then left the key with the concierge and the name of one of her husband’s security details, saying, ‘Give them the key.’ But by the time they brought the husband and he arrived in England, the cabal had rented a completely new place for him. He never went to the place they had prepared.”

He alleged that influential figures around the former president took charge of the arrangements upon Buhari’s arrival, sidelining the accommodation secured by his wife.

Omole said the incident underscored the level of influence allegedly exercised by unelected individuals over access to and decisions concerning the former president during his final period in office and afterward.
