“Charles Nwekeaku: Nnamdi Kanu Blames Certain Politicians for His Ongoing Imprisonment”
Charles Nwekeaku, the Secretary General of the Igbo Elders Consultative Forum, has alleged that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), believes that certain politicians in the South East are secretly responsible for his extended detention by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Nwekeaku stated that these politicians feel threatened by Kanu’s rising popularity and are attempting to stifle his influence by keeping him incarcerated. He noted that Kanu has identified specific politicians who he claims are involved in his continued detention, although Nwekeaku chose not to reveal their names.
In an interview with Arise TV, he explained, “Some politicians in the South East feel insecure about their popularity because many people support Nnamdi Kanu and the principles he represents. Kanu has accused some politicians of being behind his ongoing imprisonment; he named them, but I prefer not to disclose those names.
It’s clear that Kanu has gained significant popularity in the South East, and if he were released today, those who hide behind IPOB to engage in criminal activities would no longer be able to do so, as he holds significant authority.”
