BREAKING: Presidency Demotes Daniel Bwala After Claiming Role as Tinubu’s Spokesman
Just hours after Daniel Bwala claimed the position of official spokesman for President Bola Tinubu, the presidency modified his role. During his first media briefing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Bwala introduced himself as the president’s spokesman. However, soon after, a statement from Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Tinubu, clarified the adjustment of roles within the State House communications team.
The statement revealed a restructuring aimed at improving efficiency in the government’s communication operations. The changes included a re-designation of roles: Sunday Dare, formerly the Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, was appointed Special Adviser for Media and Public Communications. Daniel Bwala, who had just been appointed as Special Adviser for Media and Public Communication, was reassigned to the position of Special Adviser for Policy Communication.
This restructuring emphasized that there is no single spokesperson for the presidency. Instead, all three Special Advisers—Bwala, Dare, and Bayo Onanuga—will collectively serve as spokespeople for the government.
The announcement came after Ajuri Ngelale stepped down from his position as the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity in September.
