Bode George: Wike Should Have Paid the N7m Himself to Prove Loyalty to PDP

In a recently shared YouTube video, prominent PDP elder and statesman, Chief Bode George, delivered a scathing critique of what he sees as disloyalty within the ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting, George took aim at unnamed individuals who, despite reaping significant benefits from the party over the years, have failed to uphold its core values and loyalty.
Without mentioning names directly, George made it clear that former Minister Nyesom Wike, who has had a long and fruitful political journey within the PDP, should have acted differently to show true commitment to the party.
“Wike has benefited from the PDP massively,” George said at the 00:21:12 mark of his address. “So he should have come through for the PDP. He should have just said to them okay, 7 million, I pay from my pocket—take the receipt back to the party secretariat and say: ‘You see how you people are foolish? I am completely committed to this house. I am completely loyal to this house. I will not decimate it. This is the receipt. Give me back my money.’”
George argued that such an action would have been a bold demonstration of loyalty and integrity, showing that the individual’s allegiance to the PDP was rooted in principle, not personal interest. “That is what you call the true son of that family,” he added, stressing the need for party members to place the collective interest above their own ambitions.
His comments have sparked conversation within PDP circles, with many interpreting them as a subtle rebuke of internal defections, selfish politics, and what some see as betrayal by prominent figures who once thrived under the PDP umbrella.

As the PDP looks ahead to the 2027 elections, Chief George’s remarks highlight growing concerns among party elders over unity, discipline, and the need to restore the foundational values that once defined the party.
