Atiku vs Tinubu: Presidential Tribunal Resumes Sitting
The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on Monday resumed sitting in the case of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu at the polls.
According to Nigeria news agency Atiku is contesting Tinubu’s victory after he ran for office on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on February 25. (APC).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the APC, the first and third respondents, are both present in person in court. In contrast to INEC, which is represented by National Commissioner May Agbamuche, the APC is represented by its Director of Legal Services.
Atiku has called four witnesses to testify in front of the court as of the time this story was filed.
The first witness was the PDP’s collation officer for Rivers State. The second witness for the day is Alhaji Mohammed Madaki, who is currently the PDP’s chairman in the Federal Capital Territory. Mr. Abraham David, who is also a resident of the FCT, is the third witness for the day. The fourth witness is one Ibrahim Mohammed Hamza, who lives in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Members of the PDP are urged by Atiku not to leave the party due to this temporary setback.
Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential nominee, has referred to his group as “government-in-waiting.”
This was said by the PDP presidential candidate on Saturday during a retreat for incoming PDP lawmakers in Bauchi state.
While they awaited the decision of the conflict at the presidential election petition tribunal, he exhorted the party members not to give up.
The Waziri cautioned the PDP members against considering quitting the party as a result of the short-term setback, insisting that ultimately, the truth would win out.
