Aregbesola Says ADC Has Divine Backing for 2026 Osun Governorship Election
Former Osun State governor and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has expressed confidence that the party will win the 2026 Osun governorship election, claiming it has divine support.
According to a Nigerian Tribune report on Saturday, August 9, 2025, Aregbesola made the remarks at a reception marking the 60th birthday of former Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Najeem Salaam. He stated that “God’s support” is with the ADC ahead of the poll.
At the event, Aregbesola commended Salaam as a respected political leader and prayed for his continued health and service to the state.
Current Assembly Speaker, Hon. Adewale Egbedun, also paid tribute to Salaam, describing him as a role model whose leadership style left a lasting impact on the Assembly.
In his address, Salaam cautioned against divisive and acrimonious politics, urging politicians and citizens to work for unity before, during, and after the 2026 election to ensure peace and progress in Osun State.
