APC Chieftain Reveals Why Buhari Snubbed Babangida’s Book Launch
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jonathan Vatsa, has claimed that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s absence at Ibrahim Babangida’s book launch was due to lingering resentment over the 1985 coup that ousted him from power.
Vatsa stated that Buhari viewed the coup as a personal betrayal, which also influenced his alleged neglect of Niger State, Babangida’s stronghold, during his presidency.
“For eight years, Buhari barely visited the state and abandoned critical federal projects, including the Baro Port and key road constructions,” Vatsa said, adding that Niger State suffered due to Buhari’s unresolved grudge with Babangida.
The claims have reignited discussions on Buhari’s strained relationship with Babangida and its broader political impact.
