All Progressives Congress Accuses Former Minister Rotimi Amaechi of Stirring Anarchy
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized former Minister of Transport and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, labeling his recent comments as insensitive, inflammatory, and unpatriotic.Amaechi sparked debate by criticizing Nigerian youth for not protesting against the rising cost of living in the country.
In a statement, Felix Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, accused Amaechi of being a long-time beneficiary of government resources, suggesting that he played a role in the country’s economic problems.Morka condemned Amaechi’s alleged attempts to incite unrest, describing him as a “political freeloader.”
He pointed out the irony in Amaechi’s criticism, given his 24 years in various public offices. The statement also mocked Amaechi’s claim that government officials are involved in corruption, questioning how someone who benefited from public service for so long could now claim he struggles to “buy diesel.”
According to the APC, the only real frustration felt by Amaechi and other political figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is that they are not in power, a decision made by Nigerian voters.
The party further stated that Nigerians understand the current economic challenges, which stem from essential reforms by the current administration, and will not be influenced by Amaechi’s call for protests.
Morka concluded by urging Nigerians to reject what he termed Amaechi’s attempt to stir chaos and to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to revive the economy for future generations.
