Akpabio: Senator Natasha Refused Seat Change to Stay in Camera View
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has explained the disagreement between him and Senator Natasha Akpoti over her refusal to move to a newly assigned seat in the Senate chamber.
In a video shared by Symfoni TV, Akpabio stated that Natasha resisted the Senate’s seating arrangement because she preferred a position where she could be easily seen by the cameras.
He clarified that such concerns were unnecessary, as the Senate had a structured system that ensured every senator was acknowledged when they wished to speak. He pointed out that a special device in front of the Senate President signaled when a senator wanted to contribute.
In his words: “I found out that the reason why Natasha didn’t obey the Senate standing order was because she wanted to position herself where the camera can see her, and so the standing orders of the Senate would not matter unless she sits where the cameras can see her.”
