Wike Stands Firm: “How Will I Build a House and You Now Ask Me to Vacate?”
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has firmly rejected calls for him to quit the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), making it clear he will not walk away from a party he played a major role in shaping.
Speaking during a recent media session, Wike addressed growing criticism over his cooperation with the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government. Despite his role in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Wike maintained his loyalty to the PDP and said fear does not dictate his political actions.
“I can’t do that; I’m not afraid. How will I build a house, and you now ask me to vacate the place?” he said, using the analogy of building a house to describe his contributions to the PDP and his refusal to be pushed out.
He took aim at some Southeast PDP members, accusing them of making hollow threats and lacking meaningful political influence. Wike argued that while others talk loudly, he has delivered real electoral victories for the party.
“You, not I, will be the one to leave the house, as I was the one who built it. Should you wish to ruin a house that I constructed, I will not permit you to do so. Not only will I not leave, but I will stay there,” Wike stated, signaling his determination to remain within the PDP and defend his political legacy.
Wike also dismissed rumours of a presidential run in 2027, clarifying that he has no intentions of contesting against President Tinubu, whom he currently supports. He warned that manipulative tactics within the PDP would ultimately harm those behind them, stressing that loyalty and results—not noise—should define party leadership.
