VeryDarkMan Raises Alarm Over EFCC’s Handling of His Device and iCloud Account

Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has spoken out following his recent encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), shedding light on troubling developments surrounding his arrest and the seizure of his personal phone.
As reported by the Nigerian Tribune, VeryDarkMan addressed his followers through a viral video, revealing that the EFCC still has possession of his phone, prompting him to buy a new one after regaining his freedom.
However, he said the situation took a more alarming turn when he realized he had been logged out of his iCloud account.
“They didn’t just keep my phone—they logged me out of my iCloud account, meaning they now have access to everything on that phone, including many videos and pieces of evidence. I have a strong feeling they won’t return the phone. And even if they do, the phone is as good as gone,” he said.
He expressed serious concerns about the potential misuse of his private data, including sensitive files and media, implying that the move could be part of a broader plan to manipulate or extract compromising content.
Another key point in his statement was a firm caution to the EFCC about a photo allegedly taken while he was in custody.
“EFCC, I want us to start a friendship, but what could ruin that friendship is if you people post the picture you took of me and label it as money laundering,” he warned.
VeryDarkMan made it clear that he would not tolerate being misrepresented. If the photo is made public with allegations of money laundering, he insisted that the EFCC must provide the full context to avoid misleading the public.
“If I see my picture on your website with a caption suggesting money laundering, you’ll have to prove it. That’s where our issue will begin—and we will settle it in court. It might even become the first open court case of its kind,” he stated.
While he said he had no problem with the agency sharing the image in general, he emphasized that linking it to a money laundering claim would be false and defamatory. He even joked that he might use their placard as his profile photo, so long as there is no misrepresentation.
In the video, VeryDarkMan struck a balance between expressing openness to a fair relationship with the EFCC and setting clear boundaries on the handling of his privacy and public image.
