Student Loan: We Have Violated Constitution By Managing Economy For Rich To Be Richer – Sam Amadi
The former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission(NERC), Dr Sam Amadi has taken to his Twitter to react as President Bola Tinubu signed the 2023 student loan act into law.
It was reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the 2023 Student Loan Act into law.
It was gathered from the report that the bill was passed by the 9th National Assembly but approved by Tinubu on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as part of steps to boost educational access and delivery at the tertiary level.
Sam Amadi who took to his microblogging, Twitter page, to react to the report said providing for a student loan fund was the right thing to do, provided it’s well funded and administered fairly based on merit.
According to Sam Amadi, he made it known that the country needed to be a welfare state as dictated by Section 16 of the Constitution of Nigeria.
However, Sam Amadi concluded his statement by saying the constitution has been violated by managing the economy for the rich to be richer.
In his statement, Sam Amadi wrote below:
“Providing for a student loan fund is the right thing to do, provided it’s well funded and administered fairly based on merit. We need to be a welfare state as dictated by Section 16 of the Constitution. We have violated the constitution by managing the economy for d rich to be richer.”
