Son of Former Nigerian Governor Dies in Car Accident
Former Kaduna State Governor, Mohammed Makarfi, has lost his son, Faisal Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi.
A family member, speaking anonymously to Daily Trust, confirmed that Faisal died in a car accident.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred on Saturday evening along the Kaduna-Zaria highway.
The source shared, “The accident took place on the Kaduna-Zaria highway this evening. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. His father was present at the hospital, and the body has been taken home for burial preparations.”
Faisal, a trained civil engineer, completed his early education at Kaduna International School before moving on to Adesoye College in Offa, Kwara State, for his secondary schooling. He later attended the University of Greenwich in London, where he earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees, and had begun a PhD program at the same institution.
This marks the second tragedy to affect a prominent Nigerian family this weekend.
On Friday, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) lost his 23-year-old daughter, Fatima. She passed away in Abuja after a brief illness and was laid to rest according to Islamic customs.
