Senator Mourns the Passing of Asagba of Asaba
Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, expressed condolences on Wednesday following the passing of the late Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof.) Chike Edozien.
Nwoko, who described the late Asagba as a visionary leader, said that his legacies would resonate in the hearts of those he touched.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that born on July 28 July 1925 the traditional ruler died on Feb. 6
Nwoko said that throughout the late Asagba’s illustrious career, the traditional ruler remained a steadfast unity advocate and mutual coexistence.
He said the late traditional ruler fostered bonds of friendship and understanding among the diverse peoples of Nigeria.
He also said his efforts did not go unnoticed, as evidenced by the national honour bestowed on him by then President, Olusegun Obasanjo, in 2003.
He also said that the late revered traditional ruler personally touched his life through mentorship and support.
“It was his encouragement that inspired me to pursue public service and ultimately led me to represent the good people of Anioma as their senator.
“His words of affirmation, spoken with pride in the hallowed halls of his palace, remain a source of strength and inspiration to me, a testament to his unwavering belief in my abilities.
“The last time I visited, he said: `from my observations of Senate proceedings, Ned stands out as a senator whose words carry weight, in spite being in the minority`.
“I’m grateful I lived up to his trust and confidence in me to represent our people. It’s fulfilling to prove he chose the right leader and that he departed proud of me”, Nwoko said.
The lawmaker said that while 99 years may seem a ripe age, his presence was so ingrained, adding that I hoped he stayed a little longer.
“His passing deeply affected me, but I find solace in the impactful life, legacy, and example he left behind for us to emulate.
“He will be sorely missed, fondly remembered, and forever revered for his greatness”. Obi (Prof.) John Chike Edozien, your memory will be cherished and your legacy revered.
“As you journey to join your ancestors, may you find eternal peace and fulfillment, knowing that your life was a testament to greatness.
“Rest well, Agu, knowing that your impact on this world will never be forgotten”, he Nwoko said.
