Rita Daniels Speaks on Daughter Regina’s Marriage to Ned Nwoko

Rita Daniels, mother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has addressed long-standing public misconceptions about her daughter’s marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko.Ned Nkowo

Speaking in an interview with BBC News Igbo, as reported by the Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Rita revealed that she initially did not support the marriage and was unaware of the relationship at its early stage.

“When Regina got married, people said I was the one who forced her to marry a much older man. They said I carried her and sold her to an elderly man,” she said. “But they didn’t know that I didn’t even know when they started dating.”

She explained that Regina later told her she wanted to marry Nwoko, which came as a surprise. Rita added that Nwoko approached her formally after his political campaign, and though the situation was difficult, she chose to support her daughter’s decision.

“I was weak, but what was I to do? I stood with my daughter,” she said. “It is better they blame me. What matters to me is that my daughter is happy and that my family is at peace.”
