Remi Tinubu Pledges N50M, 20,000 Wrappers to Boost Ebonyi Women’s Businesses on Women’s Day
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced significant support initiatives aimed at bolstering the economic empowerment of women in Ebonyi State. In a recent address at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, during the 2024 Women’s Day Celebration, Senator Tinubu pledged a donation of N50 million dedicated to supporting women-led businesses in the state.
This announcement, as reported by Channels TV, highlighted not only financial support but also the distribution of 20,000 wrappers, along with shoes and bags, to assist women entrepreneurs and contribute to their business endeavors. Senator Tinubu’s efforts reflect her commitment to fostering economic growth and empowerment among women across Nigeria.
In her speech, the First Lady commended the Ebonyi State Governor for his progressive stance on female representation in leadership roles. “Let me go back to greet your governor. He has gone beyond the 35 per cent in female appointments. His deputy governor is a woman, same for the Secretary to the State Government and many down the line,” she stated, acknowledging the strides made in promoting gender inclusion in the state.
“We are donating a sum of N50 million, 20,000 wrappers, shoes, and bags to support businesses of women in that line, in this state,” Senator Tinubu confirmed, underscoring her administration’s focus on enhancing opportunities for women to thrive in the economic sector.
