Prof Ikechukwu Draws Parallel Between Tinubu’s Inaugural Decree and Obasanjo’s Presidential Debut

In an interview with Arise TV news, Professor Okey Ikechukwu, a renowned Human Capital Development Expert, drew parallels between President Bola Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal order and former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s decision during his first day in office.
He expressed his belief that the President’s swift action in removing the subsidy sent a powerful message about the new administration.
According to Professor Ikechukwu, the fuel subsidy needed to be eliminated, and he commended the President for making that decisive move.
However, he emphasized that there will be consequences that must be addressed. He further pointed out that waiting beyond that day might have hindered the successful removal of the subsidy.
Drawing a comparison with Obasanjo’s early actions as President, the expert recalled how Obasanjo retired senior military officers with political exposure. He stated that both leaders’ timely decisions demonstrated the importance of seizing the moment for impactful changes in governance.
