Peter Obi Proposes Hiring an Auditor to Review Accounts, but Abure Opposes – Kenneth Okonkwo.
Labour Party leader Kenneth Okonkwo criticized the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, for opposing Peter Obi’s efforts to promote financial transparency within the party. Continue Reading >>>
Okonkwo expressed his frustration with Abure’s resistance to Obi’s proposal to bring in an external auditor to review the party’s financial records.”Peter Obi wants to bring in an auditor to audit the accounts. Why hasn’t Abure agreed to this?” Okonkwo asked, suggesting that Abure’s call for reconciliation with Obi was insincere.
“He’s asking Peter Obi to make peace, but peace about what? Of all the things Obi asked him to do, how many has he actually done?”Okonkwo further criticized Abure’s leadership for failing to adhere to the Labour Party’s constitution, particularly Article 8(c), which calls for a leadership that is selfless, transparent, and committed to the rule of law.
He pointed out that the lack of accountability is undermining the party’s core values. “Obi said to implement these changes, but how many has Abure followed through on?” Okonkwo questioned, underscoring that Abure’s actions have strayed from the party’s mission. In a sharp remark, Okonkwo cautioned Obi that he might face betrayal from within the party, saying, “I told Peter Obi that they will sell him out, and I mean it.
The only thing I’m asking is that, since he’s still my brother, if they do sell him out, they should let me know so I can go looking for him.” IN HIS WORDS:”Peter Obi said he wants to bring an auditor to audit the accounts.
Why has Abure not agreed, and now he’s asking Peter Obi to make peace? Peace on what terms? All the things Obi asked him to do – which of them has he done to show transparency and accountability, to conform to Article 8(c) of the Labour Party constitution, which states we will build a selfless, transparent, and rule-of-law-driven leadership? As Abure, what have you done to comply with that? Peter Obi said do this and that, but how much have you accomplished? I warned Peter Obi that these people will betray him, and I stand by that.
The only thing I’m asking is that, since he’s still my brother, if they sell him out, they should tell me so I can go look for him.”
