Peter Obi: “I Never Promised Happiness, It’s Davido and Wizkid’s Job to Make People Happy”

Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, recently appeared on the Honest Bunch Podcast, hosted by media personality Nedu Wazobia, where he shared insights on various topics.During the conversation, Obi revealed that influential figures in the country, particularly those in the “A-list” circles, aren’t fond of him.
He also recalled how, during his time as Governor of Anambra State, the President would tell him that no one was pleased with him. Obi clarified that he never promised to make anyone happy. He pointed out that entertainers, such as Wizkid, Davido, and Phyno, are the ones responsible for spreading joy.
He explained that government has a different role: to focus on critical issues like education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation. In his own words, Obi remarked, “The A-listers don’t like me. When I used to visit Abuja, the President would tell me that nobody was happy with me. I would respectfully tell him that I never promised anyone happiness, and it was never part of my plans.
People like Nedu, who are entertainers, are the ones meant to bring happiness. Our jobs are different—government’s role is to invest in key areas like education, healthcare, and poverty reduction, not to entertain people.”The podcast snippet was shared by Nedu Wazobia on his Instagram page on November 5, 2024, sparking widespread reactions from the public.
