NLC Warn Nigeria Govt Over His Decision – “Your Declaration Has Return Queue To The Fuel Station”
Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC cries out towards the new declaration of the new Nigeria govt, said that “your first opinion want run Nigeria back to where is coming from”, petroleum price has increased with 300 per cent in some places in the country.
The statement made by President Bola Tinubu during his inaugural speech that the government will no longer subsidize petrol has outraged the Nigeria Labour Congress.
In a statement released on Tuesday, NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero recalled that Tinubu was one among those who passionately protested the government’s elimination of gasoline subsidies by the administration of then -President Goodluck Jonathan in 2012.
The statement says, “We at the Nigeria Labour are angered by President Bola Tinubu’s proclamation abolishing ‘fuel subsidy’ without adequate consultation with vital stakeholders or without putting in place palliative measures to soften the harsh consequences of this subsidy removal’.
“Within hours of his announcement, the country plunged into chaos as a result of service suspensions and price increases for some products that exceeded 30% in some locations.
According to Sahara Reporter, President Tinubu’s callous action on the day of his inauguration, instead of giving millions of Nigerians optimism, brought them sadness and tears. He also significantly reduced their lives’ quality by almost 300 percent, and he’s still going.
This level of cruelty toward the populace is never courageous, much less acceptable on the day of an inauguration. If he was hoping for a medal for making this choice, he would undoubtedly be disappointed to receive curses because the Nigerian people view it as a major betrayal rather than just a minor one.
